Understanding:
Buyers contract
This contract between the Buyer and Tuckelbears Cattery is for the sole protection of the cat. Tuckelbears Cattery is
intensely interested in the welfare of every cat sold.
In Summary:
· Cats will remain indoors. This will ensure long, and healthy life.
· Remember that this kitten was our baby for the last 3 months. Please stay in contact with us and send pictures.
If, for any reason you cannot keep the cat/kitten, please contact us and we will receive it back.
· The cat will not be de-clawed. This will insure a well-balanced personality and promote a non-biting attitude
towards you.
De-clawing is considered unnatural and cruel and for this reason is illegal in Europe and is not permitted by the Maine
Coon Cat Breeders and Fanciers Society.
You must see your vet within 48 hours (or 2 working days). It is recommended that you make your appointment
before welcoming your new kitten home.
The cat has had 2 sets of their required shots needed for the next year, but for your sake and Tuckelbears, your vet
must tell you that the cat is healthy. The kittens will have had the following shots and the required 1 boosters:
Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia
· Finally, it is ill advised to inoculate against FIP and Feline Leukemia. Both have been known to be untrustworthy
and have quite a high rate of reactions. FIP vaccine has been known to kill cats in less than 3 months. This cattery
regularly tests for FeLv and FIV and if your cat is kept indoors and has no access to strays, there should be no further
concern.
Please make your vet aware that you do not choose these inoculations.
Genetic defects are still impossible to foresee, but rigorous testing has been done on the parents and their ancestors.
Therefore, this contract details what is required for all cat purchases:
Buyer is encouraged to call whenever there is a question or concern about their new Maine Coon cat or kitten.
If you cannot keep the cat/kitten for any reason, please contact Tuckelbears Cattery. We will accept the cat back.
Buyer agrees to keep this cat as long as he/she lives unless unforeseen circumstances prevent. If the Buyer has a new
home in consideration for the cat/kitten, the Buyer will advise Tuckelbears Cattery of such preparations, and the new
caretaker’s contact information.
The Buyer agrees that under no circumstances will said cat/kitten be: sold or given to a pet store, Research Facility, or
animal shelter, nor will it be abandoned to fend for itself.
The Buyer agrees that this cat is to be a house cat only and live indoors exclusively. The Buyer agrees not to purposely
let the cat/kitten run loose outdoors. This will ensure long, and healthy life.
Buyer agrees to provide adequate space, exercise, food, fresh water, and litter. The Buyer agrees to provide adequate
health care for the cat/kitten, including annual immunizations, keeping the cat/kitten free from internal and external
parasites and consult with a Veterinarian upon sign of illness.
The Buyer agrees claws will be clipped as needed. A tall scratching post is necessary. This cat will not be de-clawed.
The Tuckelbears Cattery will provide adequate council and advise the Buyer if this ever becomes an issue. This will
insure a well- balanced personality and promote a non-biting attitude towards you. If for any reason the Buyer has the
cat/kitten de-clawed, the Tuckelbears Cattery cannot and shall not be held responsible for any ill effects this may have
on the cat/kitten. This act without counsel will give cause for the Tuckelbears Cattery to nullify and void any and all
written or verbal health guarantees.
The Buyer agrees that this cat will not be left alone for more than 24 hours unless arrangements are made with a
responsible party to provide fresh food and water daily, and fresh litter as needed.
The classification of this cat/kitten, is indicated as SHOW/ALTER.
Buyer understands that they should provide photographs for the Tuckelbears Cattery to aid in their evaluation of the
Tuckelbears Cattery’s breeding program.
Health Guarantee: The Tuckelbears Cattery makes no guarantee on the health of this cat/kitten except as follows:
Tuckelbears Cattery provides the cat with current vaccinations for
Rhinotracheitis, CaliciVirus, Panleukopenia, and de-worming.
The Tuckelbears Cattery guarantees that the cat/kitten is in good health at the time of purchase. Please see health
records for vaccinations and any other health related information.
Since some hereditary/congenital problems do not surface until the cat is older, and we have no way of detecting them
at an earlier age.
Until a guaranteed DNA test is available for detecting HCM, sonogram and electrocardiogram are the best means of
early detection. Therefore, it is recommended that this cat be sonogrammed (echo-cardiogramed) at least 1 time before
the 3rd birthday of this cats life. We use Dr. Allison K. Adams, board certified cardiologist in Mt. Pleasant in the

The Tuckelbears Cattery will guarantee against any life threatening or severe genetic ** health problems in this
cat/kitten for the first 3 years of this cats life. Upon a Veterinarians confirmation of such onset, the Tuckelbears Cattery
will at the return of cat/kitten, replace the cat/kitten as soon as a suitable cat/kitten is available. Should Buyer decide to
keep said cat and accept partial refund, Tuckelbears Cattery will, upon receipt of proof, refund 50% (Fifty percent) of
purchase price.
This is a limited warranty; any claims under this guarantee, must be made in the first 3 years of purchase.
** This indicates any genetic defect that would interfere with the purpose of which this cat/kitten was intended as
indicated.
Severe or life threatening does not include such things as a kinked tail or polydactal toes unless the cat/kitten is
purchased as a “For show” pet.

Vaccination with the feline leukemia (FeLV) should be given at the Buyers own risk and the Tuckelbears Cattery cannot
be held responsible for any vaccination related complications.
Vaccination with the FIP vaccines VOIDS ALL HEALTH WARRANTIES.
Feline Leukemia guarantee is limited to the age of four (4) months or three (3) days (72 hours) once possession has
been passed, whichever comes first. These restrictions are because Tuckelbears Cattery has NO control over what pet
is exposed to after leaving Tuckelbears Cattery's home. All Adult cats have been tested & found negative for Feline
Leukemia; there are NO accurate tests for FIP.
NOTE: Tuckelbears Cattery reserves the right to confirm diagnosis AND TREATMENT PROTOCOL for
appropriateness to the diagnosis, and confirm that, if said protocol is appropriate, the protocol is being followed. If any
of the terms of this contract are not fully met the Buyer risks the loss of the health guarantee and or the cat/kitten. If the
cat/kitten shows any physical or behavioral indications to having been mistreated or neglected at any time under the
care of the Buyer, the Buyer must surrender the cat/kitten to the Tuckelbears Cattery immediately.
Extended health not guaranteed beyond the terms of this agreement, due to the fact that Tuckelbears Cattery no longer
has complete control of the cat, its environment, health care, or diet.
Vet Check/Return Policy: The Cat may be returned to the Seller within 5 working days for a full refund only if a
licensed veterinarian finds that this cat is not in good health.
Refund Policy: Absolutely no full cash refunds after 5 working days.
This agreement is the entire agreement between the parties.
Buyer agrees to the above listed restrictions and conditions (listed above) as written without modification to this
contract. All parties signing this contract consider this document to be legally binding.
